What we are

Old School AI is operated by Michael Alshooler (Alshooler Consulting). We are the data controller for all personal data collected through this service. We are not affiliated with Anthropic.

What we collect

How we use your data

Your questionnaire responses are used for one purpose: building the identity profile and personalized skills that Claude serves through your connector.

We never use your data to train any AI model, and no provider we work with is permitted to either. On the free Personal plan, your questionnaire data is never sent to any AI system, for any purpose. On the paid plan, two optional features use AI providers, only when you choose to use them. The section “AI features on the paid plan” explains exactly what is sent, to whom, and what happens to it.

Assembly happens on our server: your responses slot into pre-built templates. Claude reaches the result only when you connect your account through the Old School AI connector. What happens inside your Claude conversations is governed by your agreement with Anthropic, not by us.

We do not sell your data. We do not use it to train any AI model. We do not share it with third parties for marketing.

AI features on the paid plan

Your identity profile is assembled on our own servers from pre-built templates. That never changes, on any plan.

On the free Personal plan, your answers never touch an AI system. No AI provider receives your questionnaire data. This is how the product is built, not just a policy.

On the paid plan, two optional features send data to an AI provider, and only when you invoke them:

1. Answer review and synthesis. When you choose to have a chapter of your answers reviewed, or when your completed profile generates its synthesis reflection, the relevant answers are sent to Anthropic, PBC (the maker of Claude) for processing. The output comes back to you and the job is done.

2. Voice dictation. When you tap the microphone on a question, your audio recording is sent to a speech-to-text provider (currently Groq, Inc.; we may use OpenAI, L.L.C. for this in the future, and this policy will name the active provider) to be converted to text. You review the transcription before anything is saved. We do not store your audio.

For both features:

• Nothing is sent automatically. These features run only when you press the button that runs them. The first time you use each one, we ask for your consent in the product. You can decline, and you can turn either feature off in your account settings at any time. Declining never blocks the rest of the product.
• Never used for training.Our agreements with these providers prohibit training on your data. Anthropic's commercial terms state that Anthropic “may not train models on Customer Content from Services.” OpenAI's API policy states that API data is not used to train its models unless a customer opts in, and we do not opt in. Groq does not train on customer inference data.
• Not kept. These providers process your data to produce the result and do not retain it beyond a short security window. Anthropic deletes API inputs and outputs within about 30 days under its standard policy. OpenAI retains API data for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deletes it. Groq by default does not retain customer inference data, and we enable its zero-data-retention setting. We re-verify these commitments whenever we change providers or features, and this policy will be updated if any of them change.
• Deletion.Deleting your account deletes your questionnaire data from our systems within 7 days, as this policy already states. Data sent to an AI provider for one of these features is not stored by us outside your profile, and falls out of the providers' systems on the schedules above.

Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

For users in the EU and UK, we process your data on the following bases:

• Account data: Performance of a contract (providing the service you signed up for)
• Payment data: Performance of a contract (processing your subscription)
• Questionnaire responses (general): Performance of a contract (assembling your identity profile and skills, the core function of the service)
• Questionnaire responses (values and beliefs): Explicit consent, collected separately at the start of the questionnaire
• Server logs: Legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention)

Cookies

We use session cookies required for authentication (to keep you logged in). We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party tracking cookies. No cookie consent banner is required because we do not use non-essential cookies.

International data transfers

Our infrastructure providers are US-based companies. If you are located in the EU or UK, your data is transferred to and processed in the United States. We rely on the providers' own compliance frameworks for these transfers.

United States and California

Old School AI is operated from the United States and this policy is written to United States law, including California's Online Privacy Protection Act, which requires us to tell you what we collect, who we share it with, and how we respond to deletion requests. We do all of that above. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use no advertising or tracking cookies. The California Consumer Privacy Act applies to businesses that exceed certain size thresholds; we do not currently meet them, but we honor the spirit of its rights anyway: you can access, correct, and delete your data as described in “Your rights,” and we will not discriminate against you for exercising those rights.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 7 days. No exceptions.
